The New Porgera Limited (NPL) now has a vacancy for qualified and experienced individuals in the following position of Operator - Maintainer - Hides Mechanical. Reporting to the Foreman - Hides Mechanical, this role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of fixed plant equipment within the Hides Mechanical section of the Fixed Plant Maintenance Department. This role involves operation of power generation and associated ancillary equipment, to enable delivery of safe, competitive, power generation to New Porgera Limited mining operations.

 

The ideal candidate must have:

• Recognized qualification in one or more of Electrical/Mechanical/instrumentation/HV Power Station Operation
• 3 years trade experience in relative technical area
• Sound communication, Leadership & technical skills
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, drawings, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Understanding of planning and organizational skills
• Prepared to work to flexible company roster and to vary working hours as required to accomplish the company’s goals and objectives
• 5 years or more experience in the Operation and Maintenance of diesel power generation or gas turbine power generation
• Previous operation and or maintenance experience on gas turbine generator sets, specifically Solar Mars 100 and or Titan 130
• Advanced Computer literacy
• Safety Training, Emergency Rescue Training, First Aid Certificate
• Previous experience working in other mines or power station in Papua New Guinea

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Operation of power generation and associated ancillary equipment, to enable delivery of safe, competitive, power generation to New Porgera Limited mining operations
• Power station operation and monitoring tasks of Hides gas turbine generators, Anawe Diesel Generators and ancillary power station plant
• Monitor Power Station process variables and make power delivery adjustments as required
• Carry out power station HV switching and rack in and out HV breakers
• Report all abnormalities and system alarms to operations and maintenance supervisors
• Carry out all operation and maintenance PMs as required
• Compile daily operations reports and send out to appropriate managers
• Issue work permits to maintenance personnel
• Perform isolations in alignment with NPL policies and procedures
• Perform site area inductions for new personnel coming on site
• Perform emergency response duties
• Support and participate in the company’s environmental policies and procedures 
• Provide support and training to fellow employees to enhance skills and foster cross training between disciplines
• Carry out PM maintenance and repair tasks as required per your trade proficiency and direction of maintenance supervision.
• Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant NPL policies & Procedures.

 

Mobilization Requirement 

• This position is open to PNG Nationals
• The roster is 21 days on and 14 days off
• Adhere to Covid19 Protocols 
• Must Have an up-to-date Police clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
