Job Details
The focus of this role is raising awareness of unpaid carers and the support that is available to them. Key audiences for this are unpaid carers themselves, including people who may not identify as an unpaid carer, professionals in the health and social care sectors, and others who might support unpaid carer, including educators and third sector partners.
Unpaid carers play a critical and important role in our communities, supporting family members and friends to live an active and independent life. There are over 35,000 unpaid carers in Fife. Most unpaid carers are not aware of the support that is available to help them manage their caring roles; too many people who provide a caring role on an unpaid basis do not realise they are an unpaid carer nor do they identify themselves as such.
This role has been created to support the partnership to deliver the Carers Strategy for Fife, 2023 – 2026 (https://www.fifehealthandsocialcare.org/media/0sch2hnj/hscp-carers-strategy-2023-to-2026.pdf) . Specifically, the role will work to deliver outcome 1 of the strategy, which underpins the success of the remainder of the strategy. The role will develop resources and lead on campaigns to increase awareness of what an unpaid carer is, who might undertake such a role and to promote the support that is available to help carers in their role.
The Person
The successful applicant will have experience of working on a wide range of projects, including in person events, to raise awareness and promote social support opportunities. A creative, collaborative and enthusiastic approach to your work is welcome in order to make the marked difference necessary to be successful in this role. A track record of being self-motivated and working under your own initiative is necessary. Experience as an unpaid carer may be beneficial but is not required.
Educated to SCQF Level 7, which includes HNC or Advanced Highers or equivalent.
This is a full-time position. Work patterns and reasonable blended working arrangements can be negotiated to suit an exceptional candidate’s work-life balance.
