Salary: FC6 £28,251.00 - £31,179.34 per annum

Working Pattern: 36 Hours per week (Shift pattern: Dayshift 10am – 6pm & Backshift 3pm – 11pm over a 3-week rolling rota. Enhancements are payable for unsocial hours which includes after 8pm Monday to Friday and weekends.)

Location: Glenrothes but working Fife wide

Job Details

An exciting opportunity to join Fife Council’s New Residential Support Team. The post holder will work as part of a small team, offering planned support across Fife Council’s Residential House’s. The post holder will offer flexible support to children and young people in our residential houses for short periods. The aim is to support children and young people through direct work enhancing to support offered by the team around them. The team is managed by Fife Council Social Work Service and the post-holder will not be permanently based in a residential house. The post holder will offer direct work across a variety of residential houses depending on need. 

The role will also include support to Young People leaving residential care living in the local communities and in our resources which support care leavers aged 16 years and above.  The worker will be required to provide support to these young people in the evening and weekends as part of their shift pattern. Our resources will support care leavers who are aged 16 and above, to promote independence and provide additional support as they leave care.

Requirements

  • Experience in supporting children and their families. 
  • Driving is essential.

Day to day task include, but are not restricted to:

  • To contribute to the development of a high-quality professional Children and

Families Service.

  • Direct work with children and young people in Fife residential homes and in their local communities.
  • The team works alongside workers in our locality teams by creatively with the team around the child to provide intensive support with a view to support children and young people in their care journey. 
  • Promote/maintain independence and inclusion.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings as required.
  • Work in collaboration with partners e.g. Health, Police and voluntary sector agencies.
  • Strive to improve outcomes for service users.
  • Promote the interests of service users and carers in terms of rights, opportunities, culture and diversity.
  • Providing written reports as required, including informed recommendations and case recording. 
  • Attending meetings and case reviews. 
  • Updating and ensuring the accuracy of all relevant service user records and taking responsibility for the effective application of information management systems.

The Person

  • Considerable experience in a relevant setting either dealing with crisis or working with children, young people and their families. 
  • Knowledge and understanding of Child Protection guidelines and information sharing protocols.
  • Experience of joint working to achieve common goals. 
  • Experience of providing direct one to one support to families and young people
  • Owing to covering Fife the ability to drive is essential. 

Before confirming your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland.
