Product Engineer
Emerson is currently seeking a Product Engineer in Marshalltown, IA. The individual selected for this crucial role will be responsible for design and technical support of products used in critical and severe service customer applications. The design engineering work is fast-paced including rapid new product development crafting “Never Been Done Before” solutions to meet customer requirements.
Additionally, this position is responsible for supporting and reviewing modifications to the design of assigned products for the fulfillment of customer orders, addressing manufacturing concerns, and/or addressing field performance issues as experienced through the life of the product. You will be working in a team-based, collaborative global organization supporting sales, marketing, manufacturing, new product development, simulation, and others.
In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
- Design and review modifications to products for Special Products Group’s Orders
- Review and approve changes to and creation of product documentation
- Provide technical support via direct communication to Sales, Marketing, and Manufacturing.
- Execute the engineering steps necessary to complete the processing of Special Product Orders following established order processing procedures and guidelines.
- Assist Sales Engineers with selection of appropriate products for different applications
- Ensure proper upkeep and maintenance of revision controlled technical documents
- Be accountable for the development, coordination, and maintenance of the company’s engineering controlled documents as they relate to the designated product lines
- Provide engineering support for Field Service Requests for installed products
- Pursue and support cost reduction activities to achieve company and customer goals.
- Support manufacturing with design related machining and assembly issues.
You identify and seize new opportunities. You consult diverse resources and ask more questions. You take on the challenge of unfamiliar tasks.
- Bachelor`s degree in Engineering (specifically one of the following disciplines: Mechanical, Materials, Industrial, Chemical, or Aerospace) or in the absence of a degree equivalent experience.
- Understanding of engineering principles
- Ability to work independently, resolve technical and manufacturing issues without detailed direction, and work as part of a team
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of computer tools in particular those related to the design and technical drawing (three-dimensional CAD, Solidworks, FEM finite element calculation) and of Office Pack (particularly Excel, VBA experience is a plus).
- 4+ years of engineering experience in mechanical design, manufacturing, product evaluation/testing, or other relevant experience.
- Capability to accurately and efficiently work on multiple projects.
- Strong analytic work methodology and problem-solving skills
- Ability to proactively identify and resolve engineering and manufacturing related issues and understand machine shop and foundry practices
- Demonstrate a capability of working within a matrix organization on a global level.
