Business Development Manager (NZ)

An exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven Business Development Manager to join our growing New Zealand team!
The job title in this advertisement is tailored for marketing purposes and may differ from the internal title used within our organization.
This role is responsible for building and maintaining a specific sales pipeline, regularly interfacing with existing and new customers, focused on expanding the DP World market share and growth strategy. The Sales Manager will hunt, secure and retain customers including supporting account management programs with the aim to scale the logistics business as well as leveraging existing networks within the related sector to drive continual growth.
This role will work closely with DP World business divisions and stakeholders to identify, build, lead and close major business opportunities that position DP World as a leader in the market.
Key Accountabilities
Sales and Customer Solutions:
- Provide innovate business solutions to prospective and current customers through regular and consistent engagement
- Build and develop a strong sales pipeline, including short, medium and long term opportunities in line with DP World Business strategy
- Successfully close out customer opportunities that provide a profitable return to the business and align with the DP World Sales Strategy
- Establish, maintain and support continuous improvement for key account management practices to ensure proactive value add initiatives are deployed in support of customer retention
- Collaborate closely with business SME’s to build customer solutions, securing the best outcome for customers
- Report on market movements and industry changes to proactively identify opportunities to drive growth through strategic pricing
Pipeline Management:
- Deliver all Customer KPI’s in accordance with the Sales Strategy/plan
- Accountable to grow and optimise profitable commercial revenue streams
Account Management:
- Accountable for the ongoing management of allocated customer base
- Accountable for growing customer base
- Accountable for offering additional services to existing customers
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- 7+ years’ successful experience in freight forwarding, landside logistics or supply chain management roles
- Extensive, proven experience in sales development roles particularly focused on the Logistics and Freight Forwarding industry
- Ability to manage a competitive, dynamic market through effective prioritisation and a methodical approach
- Excel in customer engagement with a strong ability to manage key relationships with a consultative sales focus enforced by high retention rate
- Successful in driving and developing relationships in new verticals in the freight forwarding or related markets
- Proven ability to build and maintain cross functional relationships
