Job Details

£12.59 per hour, increments increased over the first 4 years, plus enhancement for working between the hours of 8pm and 7am during the week and weekend working.

The successful candidate will be part of a team that provides responsive care and support to adults, with disabilities and mental health needs to live as independently as possible.

The successful candidate will support service users living at home with all aspects of their daily living. This includes carrying out personal care, must have the ability to undertake all moving and handling manoeuvres and tasks including the pushing and pulling of wheelchairs, and all aspects of C.A.L.M.

Successful candidate will support service users at mealtimes, support with medication, be responsible for record keeping, health and safety and finances. Supporting service users with their chosen lifestyle within their community, promoting social inclusion. Supporting individuals to maintain regular contact with friends and family, college or work opportunities, social events/activities and going on holiday.

The successful candidate will adopt a person-centre approach in all aspects of service delivery and accompany service users in a wide range of personal interests and appointments whilst promoting the rights of the people we support and to empower them to actively pursue meaningful opportunities to live their lives to their full potential.

Lone working is a requirement for this post, you must be willing to work independently, taking responsibility for your shift and making decisions where required, to ensure smooth and efficient service delivery.

The shifts that you will be required to cover will include dayshifts, backshifts, weekends, sleepovers and/or wakened nightshifts, including public holidays, Christmas, and new year.

A robust Induction Programme is in place and commitment to training is essential.

The Person

Flexibility is required as services are delivered on the needs of the individual service user.

You will have experience of providing care, formally or informally.

The successful candidate must demonstrate good communication skills, organisational skills, ability to manage and prioritise workload, ability to work with minimal supervision, work independently and have team working skills.

The successful candidate must have good literacy skills and have IT skills.

The successful candidate should have the ability to undertake physical tasks e.g. being able to comfortably kneel on beds and floors and able to rise without difficulty.

The successful candidate should have experience/awareness of Health and Social Care Standards and Fife Council and Scottish Social Services Council Codes of Practice.

You will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within your first six months in post.

You will have or be willing to achieve in the first period of registration, the Social Services and Healthcare SCQF6 SVQ2 or equivalent to meet Scottish Social Services Council registration. 

Before confirming to your appointment, you will be required to obtain Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland and become a member of the relevant PVG scheme.

As this role requires SSSC registration, the successful applicant will have three months to apply for registration.

If appointed, you must start your application as soon as possible so you`re registered within the required six months. More details are included in the role profile.
