The New Porgera Limited (NPL) now has a vacancy for qualified and experienced individuals in the following position of Specialist - Technical - Mobile Auto Electrical. Reporting to the section superintendent, the incumbent will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing and maintaining electrical systems in mobile mining equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. 

 

The ideal candidate must have:

• Recognized Trade Certificate in Auto Electrical or a related field
• Relevant certifications in auto electrical systems and safety training
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mobile auto electrical maintenance, preferably in the mining industry
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and software for electrical systems 
• Proficient in using maintenance management software (e.g. SAP, Oracle, etc) and Microsoft Office Suite
• In-depth knowledge of mobile auto electrical systems, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair techniques
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, technical drawings, operating and maintenance instructions and service manuals
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
• High level of attention to detail to ensure precision in diagnostics and repairs
• Effective communication skills to liaise with team members, operators, and management
• Prior industry recognized safety training highly desirable
• Current PNG Class 1 or 6 Driver`s license with ability to acquire a Site LV Driving Permit.
• Prepared to work to flexible company roster and to varied working hours as required to accomplish the company’s goals and objectives

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on electrical systems in mobile mining equipment, including haul trucks, loaders, and other heavy machinery
• Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
• Provide technical support and expertise to the maintenance team and operators regarding electrical systems and components
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance activities
• Develop and document processes and systems for the section 
• Assist Maintenance Trainers digest and develop training manuals from the Supplier Instructions and Service Manuals for new equipment, electrical systems and components
• Must understand and contribute to the maintenance performance measures assigned to their area, (KPI’s)
• Actively participate in the development of on-the-job training plans for apprentices and T/A’s
• Promote high standard with environmental practices covering all areas from storage of oil, disposal of rubbish to handling wastewater
• Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant PJV policies & Procedures.

 

Mobilization Requirement 

• This position is open to PNG Nationals
• The roster is 28 days on and 14 days off
• Adhere to Covid19 Protocols 
• Must Have an up-to-date Police clearance Certificate (acquired within the last 6 months)
