We have an opportunity for an experienced Designer to join the Cath Kidston team at Next to design fashion, pyjama and kids collections. Our Designers here at Next are always looking forward. Looking for that Next thing, focusing on trend and pushing the boundaries of what we can offer our fantastic customer base. Working as a key part of the critical path; creating new and innovative designs across the Cath Kidston range.
Your role
The day to day design will be for fashion and pyjama collections (4 x collections a year). Designing our collaboration collections, working closely with Licensor in management and approvals of the collection. In addition to this you will be creating detailed spec and technical sheets, uploading design and managing the product design.
You will be managing a proportion of the Cath Kidston License portfolio from a design perspective, alongside the Head of Creative, this includes beauty and eyewear.
This role is not an off the shelf buyer led position and we are looking for someone who is truly passionate about the brand.
Understanding the brands heritage and ethos to further expand the brands offer, contemporise and bring new and exciting design within our aesthetic.
We would ask you to produce elevated designs that tastefully represent what the brand is after as well as the customer.
Day to day activities could be briefing suppliers and continuing to build great relationships whilst working closely with the wider team to support the whole design process from planning new ranges through to product selection.
This fast paced role is perfect for someone with a wealth of experience within this category.
About you
We are looking for someone who is truly passionate about the brand and using print and colour in design.
Having experience at a Designer or Senior Designer level within a similar brand; your creativity and collaborative outlook would compliment this role. Previous experience working on a similar style of design is essential. A great taste level and a real passion for the latest trends and a true eye for elevation and detail. A high level of experience and being proficient in creating and presenting seasonal trend direction, creating designs and tech packs using Adobe creative suite-from initial trend concepts to final tech packs would be necessary for this role. Excellent communication skills are essential to this role.
You will ideally have previous experience of managing as you will have direct reports. As well as an understanding and experience of working with external partners would be beneficial as the role will involve managing licence territories across China and Japan.
