Salary FC6 : £28,251.00 to £31,179.34 per annum

Work Pattern: 36 hours per week (Monday to Thursday 7.45am to 4.00pm; Friday 7.45am to 12.45pm)

Job Details

If appointed, you will be report to the Bereavement Services Lead Officer, and be responsible for assisting with the area delivery of the Bereavement Services function and related operations, ensuring the development and delivery of sustainable service provision at local Area/Ward level. Working in all weather conditions supervising a team and/or on occasion lone working undertaking associated work within cemeteries, churchyards and crematoria gardens. The post holder is expected to work with minimal supervision and to accept responsibility for the direction of the work of a team under their management.

The range of work will include assisting with the grounds maintenance of burial grounds and all work associated with this type of environment. Operation of a range of equipment including inspection, routine maintenance, and cleaning. Location, preparation of graves for funerals, carrying out required duties during funeral service and reinstatement of the grave following the funeral. Completion and submission of documents and reports legally & officially required. The postholder is expected to provide leadership and effective management to ensure high levels of productivity and quality outcomes. Manage annual leave and sickness requests to ensure continuity in work commitments scheduled.

The Person

SVQ 3 or equivalent in Amenity Horticulture or relevant subject

The post holder is expected to work with minimal supervision and to accept responsibility for the direction of the work of the team. 

A driving licence is essential given the type of equipment the successful candidate will be trained and expected to use. 

There may be a requirement to work at weekends and on Public Holidays to ensure continuity of Service Provision.
